Privacy and cookie policy
Last updated 5 November 2026
This policy explains what the Lab to Lucre website collects, why, how long it is kept and what you can ask for. It is written to follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Who is responsible
Lab to Lucre is a sole proprietorship run by Megha Telkar in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Megha decides how your data is used and is the contact for every privacy request and complaint:
- Email: telkar.megha24@gmail.com
- Phone: +91 70196 54059
Visit counting (only if you accept)
When you first visit, a banner asks whether the site may count your visit. Nothing is recorded until you press Accept. If you press Accept, the site records:
- the page and sections you view, the buttons and links you click, how far you scroll and how long you stay;
- the website or campaign link you came from (the site name only, not the full address);
- your device type (mobile, tablet or desktop);
- a random visitor ID, so repeat visits can be counted. It is not linked to your name.
Purpose: to see which parts of the site help founders and improve them. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, the site treats that as a no and records nothing.
The contact form
The form asks for your name, email, company name (optional), role, the services you are interested in, your startup's stage and your message. It is sent only after you tick the consent box. Purpose: to reply to your query and follow up on it. The form also notes which site you came from and your device type, so Megha knows how you found Lab to Lucre.
The readiness check
Your answers are scored inside your browser and are not sent anywhere. If you click "Get a plan for these gaps", your score is copied into the contact form message, which you can edit or delete before sending.
Cookie and storage policy
This site sets no cookies. It uses your browser's local storage instead, which works in a similar way:
| Name | What it does | When it is set |
|---|---|---|
consent | Remembers whether you pressed Accept or Decline, so the banner is not shown again | When you choose (necessary) |
last_submit | Stops the contact form being sent twice within a minute | When you send the form (necessary) |
vid, visits, sid | Random visitor ID, visit count and session ID used for visit counting | Only after you press Accept |
To change your choice, use "Privacy choices" at the bottom of the home page. Declining removes the visit-counting entries from your browser. You can also clear this site's data in your browser settings at any time.
Other services the site uses
- Google Apps Script and Google Sheets receive the visit data (if you accepted) and the contact form, and store them in a private sheet that only Megha can open. Google's servers may be outside India.
- GitHub Pages hosts the website and, like any web host, receives your IP address when your browser loads the pages.
Fonts, images and the video are served from this website itself; no other outside service is contacted. Your details are never sold, rented or used for advertising.
How long data is kept
- Contact form entries: as long as needed to reply to you and follow up, and no longer than 12 months after the last contact, unless you become a client and a longer period is needed for records.
- Visit data: up to 12 months, then deleted.
Your rights
You can, at any time and free of charge:
- ask what personal data Lab to Lucre holds about you and how it is used;
- ask for it to be corrected, completed or updated;
- ask for it to be deleted, or withdraw your consent (withdrawing is as easy as giving it: email Megha, or use "Privacy choices" for visit counting);
- raise a complaint or grievance;
- name someone to act for you if you die or become unable to act.
To do any of these, email telkar.megha24@gmail.com with the email address you used. Megha will confirm what was done. If you are not satisfied with the reply, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
This site is meant for founders and professionals. It is not aimed at anyone under 18, and Lab to Lucre does not knowingly collect their data.
Security
The site loads only its own files, sends data over HTTPS, and keeps the sheet private. If a breach affecting your data ever happens, you will be told as required by law.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Big changes will also be shown on the home page.
